We have for so long allowed worldwide media define for us what the “successful & beautiful” african personality looks like. Sadly, the standards have not always lauded those with natural hair.

One question we ask at Hairpolitan is if magazine cover models should only be media personalities, celebrities, socialites and political figures? Also must they only have long wavy or straight hair cascading down their backs? Why can’t regular women proud to showcase their natural hair be the ones on our covers?

In a bid to provide a solution, we will be running the Hairpolitan Cover Girl Competition. The winner will grace our covers in the Jan/Feb 2017 issue.
